Job DescriptionJob Description

The Leffell School is looking for a School Psychologist to join our student support services team. As a member of this team, the School Psychologist will support students and families, empower teachers, and collaborate with other members of our school leadership. The School Psychologist will report directly to the Lower School Principal.

As a School Psychologist, you will:

  • provide individual and group services to students - including counseling services - that emphasize improved academic and social-emotional outcomes

  • Develop, monitor, review and modify behavior intervention plans

  • Identify students in need of counseling and social services

  • In collaboration with school's instructional leadership, provide teachers behavioral and academic strategy support, resources, and professional development

  • Work closely with students' families to ensure students receive appropriate care

  • Collaborate with Teachers, Chair of Student Support Services, IESP providers, and instructional leadership to coordinate services for students with IESP

  • Make external services referrals to quality providers

  • Collaborate with Lower School Dean for Students

Qualifications for School Psychologist

  • Active school psychology license from NYS

  • Experience working as a school interventionist or psychologist

  • Firm understanding of child and school psychology

  • Commitment to continuing education as a school psychologist throughout your career

  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults

  • Ability to maintain and organize confidential records

  • Understanding and commitment to following all related laws and standards

  • Organizational, scheduling and planning skills to manage complex schedule, and the schedule of many kids

  • Ph.D. recommended as eventual education goal for school psychologists


The pay range listed is for a full-time position, but we would entertain applications from candidates who are interested in both part-time and full-time.
