Job Title: Wire EDM Operator

Department: Manufacturing

Shift: 2nd Shift – 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm – 10% Shift Differential

Training: If Training Required candidate will be on 1st Shift for 60-90 days then move to 2nd Shift.

Summary

As a Wire EDM technician, your primary responsibility will be to set up, operate, and maintain wire electrical discharge machining equipment used in the manufacture of precision components.

We are seeking an experienced individual, however if you DO NOT have EDM experience but you ARE a highly motivated self-starter and are interested in learning a skill that can lead to a career, WE WILL TRAIN YOU.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.

  • Set up, operate, and maintain wire electrical discharge (Wire EDM) machining equipment
  • Ensure precision cutting of various metals and components according to specifications
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform routine maintenance on machinery in accordance with the maintenance schedule and as special needs arise
  • Keep multiple Wire EDM machines running
  • Collaborate with supervisor, engineers and team members to achieve production goals and quality standards
  • Interpret technical drawings to perform inspection of parts produced
  • Inspect completed parts for quality compliance using basic mechanical measuring tools
  • Clean and deburr parts coming off the Wire EDM machines as neccessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience running Mitsubishi and Makino Wire EDM machines
  • We will also train the right individual that does not have Wire EDM experience

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to team members in English.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
