Purpose of the Position:

The Sales Manager(s) are responsible for supporting the Sales Team Members in helping people buy vehicles.  This is accomplished through the planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of the Sales Department and in measuring the performance of the employees in the department.  The ability to create connections with customers and Sales Team Members alike will be critical for the success of this role and the department as a whole.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Desk deals with sales team members for prospects
  • Be directly involved with customers to assist sales team members
  • Assist with gathering necessary documentation needed for claiming factory incentives 
  • Work with the F&I Office to structure deals
  • Assist sales team members with developing and executing follow up plans for prospects
  • Hold sales team accountable to Path to Purchase and other dealership processes
  • Strive for teamwork with all other departments within the organization
  • Assist in forecasting goals and objectives for the Sales Department and develop plans to meet them
  • Work with sales team members to develop goals, plans of action, and track activities to ensure success
  • Lead sales team meetings
  • Develop training topics for the sales team
  • Participate in daily 1 on 1s with sales team members
  • Be willing to learn and train on the F&I process and be able to fill in when necessary
  • Participate in “Save a Deal” meetings with the sales management team and F&I office
  • Work with sales team to help ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Report new vehicle deliveries to the factory
  • Assist Pre-Owned Inventory Manager by appraising trade ins and off the street purchases as needed
  • Reconcile sales team compensation/commissions on a monthly basis
  • Be knowledgeable of new vehicle incentives and programs to drive sales activity
  • Be willing to assist in developing, installing, and modifying best practices/processes within the organization


Other Duties:


  • Provide enthusiastic leadership to shape the team’s attitudes and build morale
  • Attend managers meetings as requested
  • Recruit and interview prospective team members
  • Assist with creating a monthly work schedule for the sales team to ensure coverage for business activity
  • Assist with maintaining the lot for display purposes (vehicle display, snow removal, etc)
  • Additional expectations/requirements as agreed upon with Dealer/General Manager


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing
  • Professional personal appearance
