As we prepare to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, and many other milestones to come, the Society is investing in expanding the Office of Development to assist our donors in their philanthropy.

This is an excellent opportunity for mission-driven fundraisers who love creating donor-centric opportunities to leave a lasting impact in the areas of Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.

The Associate Director, Annual Fund, role will work in close collaboration with the Director of Development to direct and manage the overall implementation of the annual fund campaign. This role will be responsible for managing internal staff and vendor partners, creating an annual campaign strategy, and executing the Society's overall direct response and digital fundraising strategies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the creation and implementation of annual campaign activities based on the Development Plan.
  • Prepares and publishes the annual direct mail and electronic solicitation campaigns.
  • Strategize with staff and Society leadership to grow DAR's existing recurring monthly giving program to maximize it's potential.
  • Will serve as the lead for developing list selection, database management, and the production of donor reports.
  • Directs the creation of the direct response budget.
  • Manages the creation of all Development communications and materials. Will work with senior staff to research, create and develop informational, promotional, and campaign materials.
  • Manage a robust portfolio of annual donors and implement strategies to cultivate existing donors and acquire new donors.
  • Will produce reporting on fundraising appeals and adjust approaches as needed.
  • Engage donors via onsite and off-site face-to-face visits, virtual meetings, phone, and emails.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • BA or BS degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field of study or equivalent work experience in fundraising/development environment required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8-10 years of direct response fundraising, digital fundraising and project management experience in a nonprofit and/or fundraising environment required.
    • Demonstrated success in areas of direct response fund raising.
    • Proven record of working with a variety of marketing and development techniques, CRM systems, email marketing platforms, social media management tools, digital advertising capabilities, and website development platforms.
    • Superb oral and written communication skills for all media and digital fundraising.
    • Flexible and adaptive leadership, as well as interpersonal skills, to develop and sustain impactful relationships with donors and vendors.
    • Outcome driven with the ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities.

All members of this office are expected to work the month of June in preparation for the Society's annual convention, Continental Congress.

  • Hiring annual salary range in the low $80,000's to the low $100,000's, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience.
