**This is a part-time position, up to 29 hours per week.


POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provide superb customer relations and administrative support that enables the department to achieve its goals and advance of the mission of Marion Technical College (the "College").

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Respond to inquiries from students, College employees and customers in a timely manner; maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, HIPAA, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.
  2. Develop and maintain a strong knowledge base of academic programs knowledge to assist the Coordinator with overall implementation of day-to-day activities.
  3. Participate in developing departmental goals, objectives, and assessments. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and the College.
  4. Assist with operational and administrative support of College technology-related hardware, software, and services by administering user accounts and supporting the academic labs located within North Central Correctional Complex (NCCC), North Central Correctional Complex – Camp (the “Camp”), and Marion Correctional Institution (MCI).
  5. Organize and administer student support services to meet the College’s and correctional instructional needs. Maintain accurate records and provide report(s), in a timely manner. Sustain user proficiency for software programs, systems, and databases used by the College, MCI, NCCC, and the Camp.
  6. Assist students and faculty using classrooms and labs. Maintain attendance, current inventories, logs, and operational documentation. Assist with user accounts administration, operation and administration of College technology hardware, software, and services.
  7. Communicate and organize curricular materials with adjunct faculty members. Order and distribute textbooks and resource materials.
  8. Assist with academic advising under the supervision of both the associate dean and coordinators.
  9. Network and promote programs within the correctional community and possess exceptional organizational skills to manage and continue development of the prison education programs.
  10. Administer NCCC, the Camp, and MCI computer labs to support student instructional needs. Maintain knowledge of current and changing computer technology. Coordinate scheduling of computer lab.
  11. Expand knowledge-base of MCI, NCCC, and the Camp requirements and adherence to ODRC policies and procedures. Maintain Correctional Education Association (CEA) accreditation standards.
  12. Serve as liaison with library, main campus IT, and other services to advance student success. Handle unanticipated discretionary matters in a judicious manner in the absence of the Director. Maintain flexibility to meet correctional classroom schedules. Maintain user proficiency for software programs, systems, and databases used by the College.
  13. Serve on internal and external committees as assigned. Adhere and monitor safety practices, rules, and other regulations within the College and correctional systems.
  14. Develop professional opportunities within the scope of work responsibilities, department, and College objectives. Demonstrate self-motivation and willing to research and continually update knowledge and skills, as well as provide input and accept additional and changing work responsibilities.
  15. Attend on- or off-campus College meetings and serve on departmental and College committees as required or assigned by the Director.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Special Contract Provision: This position is contingent upon the continued program agreement with Marion Correctional Institution, North Central Correctional Complex, North Central Correctional Complex – Camp, and/or other prison programs. This position may cease immediately in the event funding stops, program agreement is terminated, or is interrupted for any reason.

Must be able to pass statutory and ODRC requirements to initially work in and sustain the ability to work in a prison facility. If the individual is not able to gain and maintain entrance into NCCC and/or MCI during the course of employment and/or is unable to fulfill the requirements of the position description, the employment contract will be rendered void and employment will be terminated immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field required. 3 years of general office and strong customer service experience required. Any of combination of work experience, training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted. Exhibit excellent English, communication, and composition writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft® Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with excellent computer and related technology skills required. Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal direction and oversight. Ability to successfully pass a background check, prior to and after employment. Valid driver’s license or dependable transportation required. Smart phone required to allow access to MFA-protected services.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This position is classified as Staff - Management, Professional, Administrative, and Support and will perform a wide range of professional and administrative support functions for the college, primarily in an office setting. Further information may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources.
