Armand Corporation, an award-winning M/WBE Construction Management firm celebrating over 33 years in the industry, is seeking a full-time Resident Engineer - New Jersey Marine Port in the Hudson County, NJ area.
The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of experience in handling the management, administration, and/or engineering of field personnel in a construction setting.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Act as the day-to-day construction manager for assigned projects, reporting the senior engineer of construction / engineer of construction.
- Coordinate with facility forces and other stakeholders to advance work in the most efficient manner possible while least impacting facility operations.
- Understand the contract and use its clauses to administer and enforce policy necessary to complete projects.
- Utilize knowledge and implementation of Construction Management strategies, processes and procedures; especially in rail and tunnel work along with building construction, and electrical/electronic systems work.
- Resolve contractor disputes and use the administrative process to execute.
- Oversee an assistant resident engineer and field staff – ensure that they are properly carrying out their functions of ensuring proper installation and advancement of construction and they are filing the proper documentation.
- Review contractor payments, report monthly on construction progress and financial health of projects and elevate potential issues.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited school required.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 of those years as a Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, or equivalent.
- Must possess at least an OSHA 30.
- Candidates with equivalent experience working for contractors will be considered as well
- Port Authority of NY/NJ experience a big plus.
- Registered Professional Engineer or registered Architect in New York or New Jersey and/or Certified Construction Manager certification (CCM) is desired.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize computers, including the latest versions of office productivity and project management software, in daily activities.
- Staff must have the ability to pass a Secure Worker Access Consortium (SWAC) personnel background screening at a High Level and ability to comply with policies on information security.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external contacts.
- Strong problem solving skills.
