Staff Accountant

General Overview:

Sound Seal is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to take responsibility for essential general ledger, reporting, and accounts payable oversite tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a growing manufacturing setting in all aspects of account reconciliation, general ledger transactions, fixed asset accounting, management reporting and accounts payable administration and collaboration with our off-site payables team. The ideal candidate will have solid GAAP accounting knowledge with accuracy & effectiveness in completing daily/weekly/monthly tasks, while working in a fast-paced environment meeting financial due dates.

This position reports to the Sound Seal Accounting Manager and is based out of Sound Seal in Agawam, MA.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete month-end closing responsibilities which includes journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, closing AP, general accruals, capital spending reviews.
  • Participate in annual audit and physical inventory.
  • Bank reconciliations and analyze daily bank activity.
  • Assist in updating and/or creating accounting policies and procedures.
  • AP management and review of our outside processing resources.
  • Management of freight expenses and BOLs.
  • Review and process travel card, P card and out of pocket expenses.
  • Analyze and process intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Collect and maintain all legally required vendor documents, including COIs and W9.
  • Ad hoc reporting, analysis, and projects such as margin and productivity.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and experience with Cost Accounting.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS-Office Suite and advanced user of Excel a must.
  • Experience with Sage or other manufacturing ERPs a plus.
  • Experience with Planful, Bloomberg and FloQast a plus.
  • Must be detailed orientated, organized, able to plan effectively, prioritize, and multi-task.
