REQUIREMENTS OF THE COUNTER POSITION:
- Over 18 years of age
- High School Diploma and post-secondary education
- Responsible for identifying and count potential homeless individuals within MTA’s subway system
- Must be able travel to all 472 stations
- Accurate data collection of individuals on trains at assigned end of the line stations
- Use Survey123 to participate in station and subway surveys
- Conduct surveys and interviews of MTA Staff on HPO count awareness
- Report homeless who are in violation to onsite police officers
- Communicate station conditions and changes to fellow team members and field supervision
- Use Survey123 to conduct counts at top 8 stations alongside PD.
- Report field conditions in real time as needed via 311, MS Teams, etc.
- Must be able to read a train schedule
- Must be tech savvy w/ ability to use an Ipad and navigate through Apple/Android Apps.
- Shifts available that could be offered:11p-8a; 3p-12a; 7a-4p
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Could be exposed to weather conditions if stationed at outdoor subway station
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COUNTER:
- Must be detail oriented
- Must be able to work with little direct supervision
- Complies with ATC policies/procedures.
- Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
- Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may vary by assignment and may change at any time with or without notice.
