GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Clinics and the Manager of Neurology Clinic, assists the various procedures including EEGs (inpatient and outpatient), extended EEG monitoring and video EEG setup/recording/reviewing, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of nerve and brain disorders. The EEG Tech functions as a resource person to physician and their staff, family members and hospital staff.  This position is primarily based out of the Neurology Clinic with the ability to perform studies on the inpatient side of the hospital.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adheres to the mission, values and established standards, policies, and procedures of the Medical Center and Patient Care Services.
2. Prepares patients, charts, orders and equipment for appropriate testing and assists diagnostic nursing staff with testing and care of patients when necessary.
3. Prepares patient and performs electroencephalogram (EEG) per physician order and prepares and transmits report for physician interpretation.
4. Performs pertinent patient history, records electric potentials and calculates quality results.
5. Possesses sufficient knowledge of how the equipment works and ability to notice when performance of any instrument is not optimal to assure correct readings.
6. Orders supplies and keeps department clean and stocked.
7. Validates electronic orders and schedules patient testing once order is received.
8. Assists in maintaining all files and procedural logs and prepares monthly statistics and Pl data.
9. Assists other staff members of team to include but not limited to answering incoming calls, updating information computer, schedule appointments and procedures, preparing charts, ordering supplies and other tasks.
10. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to all team members.
11. Participates in training, orientation, and credentialing of new employees.
12. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and maintains a clean and safe environment, adheres to regulations.
13. Demonstrates ongoing understanding of Corporate Compliance issues.
14. Identifies Age Specific needs and complies with same.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Associate's Degree and/or 2 years of relevant experience in Electro-Neuro Diagnostic testing.
2. Graduate of an accredited NOT program with certification (CAAHEP or Non-CAAHEP) or certification eligible in electrodiagnostic testing.
3. Ability to proficiently write read, write and speak English.
4. Ability to interact with positively with individuals.
5. Current Basic Life Support Certification-Health Care Provider (BLS) or successfully pass within the first 6 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Computer experience in Meditech
2. Bilingual.
3. Independent leadership and management skills.
