Staff Accountant

Job Summary: Manages and implements various accounting procedures in compliance with SCHS policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
- Manages and implements various accounting policies, procedures and systems, payroll functions and operational procedures.
- Directs and monitors procedures performed by SCHS' accounting department to ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner and is accurate.
- Ensures the Accounting Department is in compliance with SCHS policies and procedures.
- Monitors the SCHS' financial system; investigates any problems that arise and finds solutions.
- Ability to develop budget projections and analyze trends.
- Excellent working knowledge of billing, collections and insurance claims, third party payers and private insurance.
- Assists Accounting Department staff with balancing problems when reconciling SCHS bank accounts.
- Is a resource person for tax information for SCHS.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and when other departments.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned
Job Summary: Manages and implements various accounting procedures in compliance with SCHS policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Professional Requirements:
- Fully participates and cooperates with SCHS’ compliance program.
- Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
- Completes annual educational requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Participates on various SCHS committees as requested.
Regulatory Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
- Minimum of three years experience in accounting, preferably in a hospital setting.
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
Other Skills:
- Excellent computer knowledge.
- Experience in use of Microsoft Excel, Lotus, Quatro Pro, etc.
