We are in search of a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance Specialist who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security, compliance, and effective governance of our organization's data assets. The ideal candidate will bring forth strong analytical skills, an impeccable attention to detail, and a profound understanding of data governance principles and best practices. This position involves planning and meticulously documenting access to various data views and objects, establishing comprehensive data lineage, and providing support for audits as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust data governance policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard the security, integrity, and availability of organizational data assets.
  • Plan and document access to various data views and objects, defining roles, permissions, and access controls to enforce data security and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data privacy, security, and confidentiality, including GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Monitor data access and usage patterns to identify potential security risks or compliance issues, taking appropriate corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain meticulous data lineage documentation to track data flow across systems, processes, and transformations, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand data usage requirements and develop appropriate governance mechanisms to meet those needs.
  • Document and transparently communicate to stakeholders about who is accessing data and for what purposes, ensuring accountability in data usage.
  • Provide support for data audits and regulatory compliance assessments, including gathering evidence, responding to inquiries, and remediation of issues.
  • Conduct regular assessments and reviews of data governance processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements as needed.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in the field of data governance, recommending best practices and solutions to address evolving challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven 5 years of experience in a data governance or data management role, with a focus on data security, compliance, and governance.
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices, with experience implementing data governance policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data privacy, security, and compliance, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Experience with data access controls, role-based access management (RBAC), and data security technologies and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex data governance issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, effectively collaborating with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Relevant certifications in data governance, data management, or information security (e.g., CDMP, CISM, CISSP) are a plus.
