Position Overview:


Red Mesa Cantina is a seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-oriented Restaurant Host to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our guests, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Host is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, assisting servers, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations in the front-of-house. This is currently a tipped position with opportunities for additional earnings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet Guests: Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, provide accurate wait times, and escort them to their table.
  • Manage Reservations: Answer phone calls, manage the reservation book, and coordinate with the kitchen and serving staff to ensure timely seating.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the entrance, host area, and dining areas tidy and organized.
  • Guest Services: Provide menus, answer initial questions, and accommodate special seating requests when possible.
  • Monitor Dining Flow: Maintain an efficient flow of guests by managing the waitlist, taking into account table rotations and server sections.
  • Customer Assistance: Address guest inquiries and complaints in a professional manner, escalating issues to the manager when necessary.
  • Communication: Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service.
  • Assist Servers: Help servers with sidework such as clearing plates, rolling silverware, resetting tables, and other tasks as needed to support efficient service.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred, ideally in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Appearance: Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with the restaurant staff and management.
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer skills for managing reservations.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
