Accounts Payable Manager

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, and payment processing
- Manage and mentor the accounts payable team, providing guidance and support as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Review and approve payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Conduct regular reconciliation of accounts payable transactions and resolve any discrepancies
- Monitor cash flow and forecast future cash requirements
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate project costing and reporting
- Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports and metrics for senior management
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations
- Continuously improve processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint) and MS Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Familiarity with lien waivers and subcontractor compliance requirements
