The English as a New Language Teacher Coordinator will provide effective instruction, assess scholar progress, and collaborate with other educators to create an inclusive learning environment.

Required Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging ESL lessons that cater to the language proficiency and academic needs of diverse scholars.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to enhance language development, including language immersion, hands-on activities, and technology integration.
  • Conduct language proficiency assessments to determine scholars' English language levels.
  • Regularly assess and monitor scholars' language development and academic progress, adjusting instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support ELLs in mainstream classrooms.
  • Provide guidance on adapting instructional materials to meet the needs of English language learners.
  • Provide individualized support and small-group instruction to address specific language needs.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for English language learners.
  • Communicate effectively with parents of English language learners, providing updates on scholar progress and offering strategies for continued support at home.
  • Conduct classroom observations to provide constructive feedback to teachers on instructional strategies to support multilingual learners.
  • Identify students who are potential multilingual learners by administering the Home Language Information Survey and conduct NYSITELL and NYSESLAT.
  • Facilitate professional development and ongoing progress monitoring on individual student goals.
  • Coordinate schedule and state testing with support of supervisor
Additional Responsibilities 
  • Grade scholars work on a regular basis and provide feedback to scholars to promote growth.
  • Contributing to the development of achievement boards.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Finds joy in the natural curiosity of elementary age children.
  • Very strong verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of adults. 
  • Awareness of resources that are available and ability to utilize these resources effectively.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, and other computer systems necessary for the position.
  • Strong candidates will also embrace the school’s organizational values.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry teaching materials and supplies.
  • Adequate visual and auditory abilities to monitor and interact with scholars.
Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years related professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices.
  • Must have a compassionate and positive attitude.
  • Enthusiasm to assist La Cima Charter School in becoming a nationally regarded charter school and serving as a teacher in K-12 education.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
