A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEALTH INSPECTOR I
This position inspects restaurants, public facilities, and other food handling establishments to ensure compliance with government regulations regarding health, sanitation control, and the handling and storage of consumable items. Your work typically involves consultation and deliver training programs to employers, employees, and the general public on issues of public health, environmental protection of workplace safety. Your job is essential to the city, you inspect workplaces to ensure that equipment, materials and production processes do not present a safety or health hazard to employees or to the general public. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support as needed. The city needs someone like you with great people skills in providing excellent customer service to all our customers, and finds genuine enjoyment in what you do
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN HEALTH INSPECTOR I
- Associate degree in related field
- Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources.
- Requires three (3) to five (5) years' experience in food science, environmental studies, chemistry, or health and safety.
- Five (5) years' experience in related fields
- Must obtain Code Enforcement Officer License from a recognize agency within one (1) year of employment.
- Must possess Food Manager Certification recognize agency.
- Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
