As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for inspecting citrus orchards and nurseries for pest-related issues, including insects, diseases, and weeds. Your scouting reports will play a crucial role in maintaining the health of our crops.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily scouting walks, covering a minimum of 5 miles to identify pests, diseases, and other concerns in citrus orchards.
• Inspect citrus nurseries for signs of pest infestations and other agricultural issues.
• Set up and retrieve insect traps within orchards and nurseries.
• Collect soil and tissue samples for nutrient analysis to ensure optimal plant health.
• Maintain an accurate monthly inventory of chemicals used in pest management.
• Assist with various tasks and special projects as directed by your supervisor.
• Utilize modern technology to complete daily scouting reports on mobile devices or computers.
• Follow supervisor instructions diligently and adhere to established standards for assigned tasks.
• Document environmental data from field samples to assess pest populations and the effectiveness of pest management strategies.
• Ensure all activities are performed safely, wearing the required safety gear and seeking guidance when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in reading and writing in English.
• Experience with electronic devices for data entry and reporting is preferred.
• Background in citrus agriculture and entomology is advantageous.
• Degrees in Agricultural Science or Environmental Science are preferred.
