Will be responsible for the development and sustainment of a MariaDB Server, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling in support of software developers, data analysts and other stakeholders. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop database structures, including schemas, tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures to support application development and business requirements.
- Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and other performance tuning techniques.
- Implement and maintain data integrity and security policies, including backups, disaster recovery, and access controls.
- Work with software developers to integrate databases with applications, ensuring data consistency and reliability.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and defragmentation to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues and provide technical support to development and data analysis teams.
- Document database designs, configurations, policies, and procedures to ensure comprehensive records for future reference.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience with MariaDB/MySQL
- Proven experience as a Database Developer or similar role.
- Experience with database design, data modeling, and normalization.
- Experience with ETL process design and implementation
- Knowledge of database performance tuning and optimization techniques, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience optimizing SQL Queries for search-intensive applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Experience with Java Data Access technologies (JDBC) and optimizing performance
- Knowledge of AWS cloud-based services
- Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Security Clearance – TS/SCI or Secret
