VDL Industries Gainesville LLC is company number 99 in the VDL Groep and the first manufacturing facility in the U.S. Operations are from a state-of-the-art, 150,000 square foot facility located in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The VDL Industries facility consists of the following work centers: laser cutting, metal forming, welding (MIG/TIG), electronic assembly/general assembly, sawing, drilling, shipping, storage opportunities, and Quality Control. VDL Industries utilizes a dedicated area for stainless steel welding and assembly operations.

Job Summary

The Press Brake (Punch Press) operator uses a press break to bend and shape metal sheets per work orders instructions and blueprint specifications. 


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Manufacturing experience required
  • 3 year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred
  • Technical certification or accreditation is preferred 
  • Blueprint reading required


Responsibilities

  • Operators a press brake to manufacture tools, equipment, and other components from sheet metal or metal plates.
  • Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans and production schedules.
  • Ensures that there are sufficient raw materials available.
  • Measures and aligns materials to be used.
  • Inspects production, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specification.
  • Performs routine maintenance on the press brake
  • Maintains a clean work area.
  • All employees are responsible for reporting environmental risks or hazards in the workplace.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans, work instructions, and blueprints 
  • Basic computer and math skills


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials
  • Physically able to operate the press brake.
