The Mission Neighborhood Health Center (MNHC) is a non-profit, multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San Francisco.  The center offers primary health care services, adult medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless services. 

We advocate for health equity and deliver innovative, high-quality services responsive to the neighborhoods and diverse communities we serve with a focus on the Latino Spanish-Speaking Communities.

We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our HIV Services Phlebotomist role. This position reports to the Clinic Manager and is a Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt role with a hourly rate of $22.94. Schedule includes evening hours on Tuesday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's.

Primary Objectives:
The HIV Services Phlebotomist performs a variety of routine laboratory duties such as blood drawing, specimen collection, maintain laboratory supplies inventory and laboratory maintenance and preparation. Additionally, the Phlebotomist utilizes data systems to conduct lab related Quality Assurance activities such as test and results tracking, monitoring, and follow up with patients for additional testing.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Laboratory

  1. Sets up lab rooms and paperwork for laboratory shifts
  2. Maintain lab room, files, and supplies organized
  3. Collect blood and other specimens and prepare for processing
  4. Complete client encounter and specimen collection in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  5. Identifies patient insurance status, and enters appropriate information in lab requisition forms
Quality Assurance
  1. Maintain medical laboratory equipment and supplies inventory.
  2. Track and obtain lab results from the San Francisco Department of Public Health systems and enter lab results in the EHR and other data tracking systems.
  3. Review the Rosetta Holding Tank in EHR for unmatched labs, and individually match to ensure they are sent to the proper chart.
  4. Produce and update reports to facilitate monitoring of client's health insurance information, and compliance with lab tests, and other screening tests.
  5. Develop and implement systems to remind patients about required screening tests.
  6. Attend multidisciplinary HIV team meetings, in-service trainings and other trainings as required.
  7. Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  1. Certified Phlebotomy Technician certificate (CPT-1 preferred).
  2. High school diploma/GED and graduated from an accredited phlebotomy program. 
  3. Six months to one year experience; experience in HIV/AIDS preferred.
  4. Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  5. BLS Certification required.
  6. Ability to work professionally and ethically within multi-cultural settings, including ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of persons, documents, data, and communications.
