Position Overview:

This position is responsible for estimating heavy civil infrastructure projects with various scopes of work, including removals, grading, concrete structures, and more. You will work closely with other estimators, project managers, and the Chief Estimator. Attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project specifications, plans, and Geotech Report; attend pre-bid meetings and assess site conditions through site visits. Determine self-performed and subcontracted scopes of work.
  • Solicit subcontractors and material suppliers, including requirements for DBE or SBE subcontractors. Develop bid packages and send out RFQs.
  • Prepare estimates proficiently by performing take-offs, setting up estimate files, and building activities and logic in Heavy Bid (HCSS) estimating software.
  • Enter subcontractor and material supplier quotes in HCSS and make awards.
  • Conduct bid reviews with the Chief Estimator and management team prior to bid day.
  • Make timely decisions, close out bids, and submit owner/agency bid documents with direction from the Chief Estimator.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college, technical school, or university in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of heavy civil/roadway estimating experience, including removals, grading, concrete structures, aggregate placement, asphalt paving, airport runways, and related scopes of work.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with estimating software like HCSS, Heavy Bid, AGTEK, OST, P6, Excel, or equivalent.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well with others.
