Job Description

VBC Tracy will have Summer Internship opportunities in our Design Department and Project Management Department - Feel free to apply here for both, OR let us know what other relevant field you are studying and how it could apply to Volumetric Building Companies

Project Design Intern:

  • Assist in implementing design direction for drawings and sketches as assigned by senior team members
  • Learn Revit and BIM360 file management protocols and procedures to confirm with office standards
  • Generate and maintain team meeting agendas and meeting minutes for general circulation 
  • Aid in update of BIM manuals, procedures, and Revit template updates at direction of Design Technology Manager, Director of Design Operations or other senior team members
  • Assist with marketing endeavors, competition applications, and other presentation documentation under the direction of senior team members
  • Assist with custom product specification, selections, sourcing, and specification generation under supervision of senior team members
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of standard office documents and templates under supervision of senior team members
  • Perform BIM360 folder maintenance as directed by senior team members
  • Assist Office Manager in implementation of office organization and maintenance if needed
  •  Lead and/or assist with small or intracompany design endeavors under the supervision of senior team members
  •  Support strategies that will help meet the needs of and improve the level of service to internal and external Customers 

 

Project Coordination Intern

  • Work closely with and assist the Project Management team, Pre-Construction and Business Development teams, and Field Construction team on project deliverables
  • Provide administrative support for multiple construction projects and site locations simultaneously
  • Assist in developing preconstruction schedule and monitoring progress
  • Review all project documents, for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in developing bid scopes for trade packages and vet subcontractors to ensure compliance with bid scope and corporate requirements
  • Assist in managing project buy-out and formalizing subcontractors.
  • Partake in preparing take-off and budgets in collaboration with Project Estimators
  • Read, understand, and administer project contract requirements
  • Process submittals, request for information, shop drawings, substation requests, change proposals and change orders
  • Assist in the preparation of the job start-up and close-out checklists
  • Help coordinate and attend meetings for project stakeholders, including project management team, subcontractors, and clients; record, distribute, and maintain meeting minutes for project meetings
  • Assist with documenting, tracking, and reporting project Change Orders and back charges
  • Assist assigned team(s) with correspondence and communication as necessary; interface with other departments and divisions within VBC to enable key internal functions
  • Work flexibly from construction site offices as well as the company office as required; travel between jobsites as needed. Job will be Philadelphia-based
  • Assist with tracking, validating, and summarizing daily productivity, including manpower for VBC construction personnel and subcontractors
  • Conduct on-site office management functions, including construction-office setup and coordination, office supply management, and implementing office procedures
  • Utilize software to complete job duties, including Procore, BlueBeam, MS Projects, and SmartSheets
  • Other related duties as assigned or needed as they relate to project process at VBC
Qualifications

Project Design Intern:

 

  • Degree candidate preferred
  • Engineering, Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Construction background preferred
  • AutoCAD, Revit proficiency required
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to function as part of a team
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be a problem-solver and appreciate a fast-paced work environment

 

Project Coordination Intern

  • Pursuing degree in construction management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or related field
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels
