To support our New Product Development,  FSE is looking to add an FEA Engineer to our Product Engineering team at our headquarters in Export, PA.  
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and methodologies to simulate and optimize the performance of new integrally geared compressor designs.
  • Collaborate with team members to create comprehensive FEA models that accurately represent the behavior of components and systems under various operating conditions.
  • Conduct structural, thermal, modal and harmonic analyses to assess the performance, strength, and reliability of critical compressor components.
  • Interpret FEA results to identify potential design improvements, material enhancements, and optimization opportunities for efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes such as ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), API (American Petroleum Institute), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), and AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association).
  • Work closely with team to innovate new features and technologies that enhance the overall performance and competitiveness of our integrally geared compressors.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure that designs are feasible for production, considering factors such as manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance.
  • Support cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept ideation to product launch, ensuring that design objectives are met within project timelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in FEA analysis, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, heat transfer, and vibration analysis principles.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API standards for oil and gas equipment, ANSI standards for mechanical components, and AGMA standards for gear design.
  • Experience with design optimization techniques and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating and modifying complex 3D models.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
  • Prior experience in compressor or turbomachinery design is a plus.
