Job Summary

The Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing structural design and analysis work for various steel and concrete structures. The work includes the proficient application of finite element analysis tools for plate structures subjected to various structural, dynamic, and thermal loading. The role will focus on individual analysis and design tasks as part of a collaborative team for large and complex projects.

This role can be filled in Tulsa, OK; Pittsburgh, PA; or Houston, TX.

Essential Functions

  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
  • Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner.
  • Develop computer models from design drawings.
  • Apply engineering first principles of statics, mechanics of materials, and dynamics to find engineering solutions for various types of steel and concrete structures.
  • In addition to finite element analysis, the position will also support design engineer efforts for various atmospheric, refrigerated and cryogenic storage structures to API and ASME codes/standards.
  • Assists in developing analysis reports, when required, which effectively communicate the analysis methods and results to internal and external clients.
  • Assists in developing work instructions and other documents to support quality and development initiatives.
  • Assists with internal project management, client, customer contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred.
  • 2+ years related engineering experience is required.
  • Design experience in API-650, API-620, API-653, ACI-318 and AISC is preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in applying design and analysis knowledge to field issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of strength of materials, stress analysis, and structural engineering is required.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) of steel. Experience with thermal and dynamic loading and concrete plate structures is a plus.
  • Experience with ANSYS APDL/Workbench or similar FEA software applications using a general-purpose programing modeling approach is a plus.
  • Experience with analysis verification and self-checking using closed form solutions "hand calculations", verification models, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Ansys (or other FEA software), MathCAD, AutoCAD, and STAAD, is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of numerical methods of structural analysis and stress analysis preferred.
  • Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
