How you can make an impact: You will ensure that all patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with the highest degree of satisfaction. The Dental Assistant will assist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.

What you will do:

  • Work under the supervision of the Dentist.
  • Assist patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering their questions and giving directions to patients as authorized by the Dentist/Hygienist.
  • Assist Dentist in chair side procedures routinely done in a general dental practice.
  • Prepare operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols and the Dentist’s directions.
  • Expose and develop dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and laws as well as Dental Department Directives and protocols.
  • Perform independent procedures as delegated and directed by the Dentist in accordance with state regulation law and Dental Department Directives and Protocols.

  • Maintain sterilization of all instruments used for dental procedures ensuring all are washed first, then placed in the ultrasonic for the proper time, dried, bagged and then autoclaved. After the cycle, instruments are properly inventoried and stored.
  • Maintain all Dental Department areas in compliance with Dental Department directives and protocols as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues.
  • Maintain adequate operatory supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes.
  • Maintain a list of all Dental Department patients, monitors patient flow, and assists the Dental Director, Dentist(s) in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and filed.
  • Proficient in Dentrix.
  • Responsible for the preparation and setting up of instruments, materials and equipment necessary for each procedure.
  • Maintain unit logs and compile laboratory data.

  • Maintain standards of confidentiality.

  • Participate in clinical collaboratives.

  • Perform duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • A passion for helping patients.

  • Graduate from an accredited health services institute.

  • 1-2 years of experience in private practice.

  • Active New Jersey Radiological Technology License is required.

  • Active CPR (BLS) Certification.
