Summary/Objective:

 

The Shop Utility plays a vital role in maintaining the efficiency and organization of our shop operations. With a primary focus on supporting the shop environment, this position involves a variety of tasks including general shop assistance, supporting incoming and outgoing goods, and overseeing stock levels to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, possesses a keen attention to detail, and is committed to maintaining a safe and organized workspace.


Essential Functions:

 

Shop Maintenance and Organization: Actively maintain and organize the shop as directed. This includes ensuring cleanliness, organizing tools and consumables, and managing inventory levels to support ongoing operations.

Operational Support: Deliver and make runs for the shop, empty garbage cans daily, maintain a clean work environment by sweeping and removing hazards, and perform other projects and duties as assigned to support the shop's operations.

Logistics Support: Assist with the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies. This includes loading and unloading trucks, verifying incoming goods, and preparing items for shipment.

Consumables Inventory: Support inventory control tasks such as cycle counts, identifying inventory needs, and communicating discrepancies or requirements to the appropriate manager.

Safety and Compliance: Clean up oil spills, drips, and address slipping hazards immediately. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.


Requirements/Qualifications:

 

Experience and Skills: Previous experience in a shop or similar environment is a plus but not mandatory. Basic computer knowledge for placing orders and communicating via email. Ability to operate forklifts and possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements: Capability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and physically able to climb stairs routinely. The role involves frequent standing, walking, and manual handling.

Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, safety-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Additional Skills: Familiarity with the process for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, solid mathematical skills. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to adapt to varying workloads is preferred.
