Overview:

The Infection Preventionist nurse supports the Director of Nursing (DON) and Clinical team in providing adequate and appropriate care for the residents we serve. This position is also responsible for the coordination and oversight of our Infection Control program in coordination with the Quality Department as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Assists in the identification of infection control issues and conducts process and outcome monitoring.
  • Reviews and analyzes data and reports on infection control trends.
  • Coordinates and monitors monthly departmental infection control rounds/audits with other departments.
  • Coordinates outbreak investigations.
  • Participates in clinical risk identification, planning, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provides monthly reports for the QAPI committee.
  • Assists in review of infection prevention and control policies, program and procedures.
  • Frequent and purposeful rounding to observe infection control and QAPI initiative related care delivery.
  • Frequently checks communication listening posts and individual contacts.
  • Attends daily meetings.
  • Review, revise, and educate policy and procedures as directed by the DON or ADON.
  • Performs audits and chart review.
  • Assesses and responds to needs.
  • Participates in Manager On-Call Rotation.
  • Assists in covering and assisting other nurse managers assignments when needed.
  • Teamwork and participation within the nurse management leadership team.

What it takes:

  • Graduate of an accredited associate degree or higher nursing program
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
  • Infection Preventionist Certification or ability to acquire within 3 months of hire through the CDC.
  • Experience with QAPI and Quality Measures preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Skilled Nursing Facility clinical operations or other appropriate health care setting preferred.
  • Experience with LARA / CMS annual certification survey process preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records, PCC preferred.
