Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least one year experience of commercial cleaning
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Role and Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly clean hallways, common areas, meeting rooms, restrooms, offices, and exited shelter rooms (at Shelter Manager’s notification). Evaluate each room/area for any needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Notify the Facilities Manager when facility needs maintenance or repairs by an outside contractor or repair service.
  • Complete minor maintenance or repairs to appliances, furnaces, plumbing, electrical, or other interior and exterior items, as skills permit, or notify Facilities Manager for work order submission.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment needed to maintain the facility including seasonal needs. Inform Facilities Manager for any supply needs and/or replacement of tools.
  • Complete any needed documentation in a timely manner in accordance with the policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers to ensure best practices in service delivery.
  • Adheres to Service Excellence standards at all times.
  • Represent Battered Women’s Shelter by participating in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by supervisor.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work environment: This position will be in a facility with victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. In addition to interaction with the survivors, the employee may have interactions with families of these individuals, the assailants and law enforcement.
