New York, United States American Red Cross Disaster Resiliency Corps Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

*Note*: We are accepting applications as long as this post is active. This opportunity is scheduled to start anytime between May and June 2024.

The American Red Cross (ARC) operates one AmeriCorps program in New York State: The American Red Cross Disaster Resiliency Corps (ARCDRC). The primary goal of the ARCDRC is to increase individual and community disaster resiliency by educating individuals and groups across the State of New York on the importance of disaster preparedness. The ARCDRC also seeks to build disaster preparedness and response capacity by assisting in the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers; and assist the ARC with its own disaster response preparedness by helping to plan and develop supply, storage, distribution, shelter, and other efforts that will enable to the ARC to effectively respond to any emergency.

AmeriCorps members serving in the ARCDRC will focus on providing disaster preparedness education and training to New York State communities through established ARC educational programs. The disaster preparedness educational programs we offer are designed to educate New York Citizens of all ages on how to effectively prepare program participants for emergencies. AmeriCorps members serving in the ARCDRC program will also have the opportunity to respond to disasters within New York State communities. Finally, AmeriCorps members serving in our program will be given the opportunity to learn more about and become directly involved with various other core Disasters Cycle Services operations such as Disaster Response, Mass Care, Disaster Workforce Engagement, Logistics, Information / Planning, and Individual Disaster Care, and other disaster activities to ensure the Red Cross is able to effectively respond to disasters.
