Broad Function

The Front of House Cashier is responsible for collecting funds for daily meal transactions, balancing accounts and depositing funds utilizing established accounting practices. Additionally, assisting with various food preparation tasks like the assembly of fruit cups, parfaits, & boxed meals.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure the register is properly set up at the beginning of the shift. Verifying that all components are active and running (Lunch Card Scanner, Credit Card Scanner).
  • Be responsible of the overall cleanliness of the register area.
  • Process food service transactions for students, guest and staff as they approach the register.
  • Organize on a consistent basis the student lunch cards back into the proper container and return to the appropriate teacher.
  • Upon completion of shift balance register using accounting procedures in place.
  • As needed assist with the reprogramming of food service register.
  • Ensure that the Napkin dispensers are placed on the tables on appropriate days.
  • Inspect the dining area for cleanliness. On a regular and consistent basis clean up trash in the lunch room, use vacuum as necessary and wipe down all tables with disinfectant.
  • Use equipment and materials properly. Report equipment malfunctions to your supervisor for the purpose of repair and/or replacement.
  • Assist with projects as instructed by the Hospitality Director as needed this include but not limited to Prep, Deli, Banquets and special events.
  • Assist with the loading of the coolers in the register area as needed, have an awareness the items are stocked and available for sale.
  • Assist with banquets and catering events as needed. Please note these events may take place off campus and at various times.

Other Essential Functions

  • Cooperate with Hospitality Director to provide a positive and inviting dining experience for guests.
Attend departmental meetings as scheduled for input and informational purposes to fulfill the mission of Indian Rocks.
  • Participate in the overall church mission by supporting other ministries with a positive attitude.
  • Manage situations, including ministry or interpersonal conflict seeking Biblical resolution.
  • Guard the confidentiality appropriate to the exchange of trust involved in a Christian ministry.
  • Be self-motivated, cooperative, innovative, courteous, conscientious and flexible. Able to lead and act independently consistent with the mission, policies, procedures, committee and pastoral leadership.
  • Be faithful in personal attendance for worship, spiritual growth opportunities, and family leadership.
  • Demonstrate personal appearance that is consistent with the policies and understanding of a Christian role model as defined by Indian Rocks policies and Christian qualifications.
  • Perform other responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor, or other church supervising staff.

  • Prior to the end of the scheduled shift consult with Hospitality Director in regards to any other pending Food Service Task.

Employees are expected to regularly handle weights up to 10 pounds, frequently manage up to 25 pounds, and on occasion, move items as heavy as 50 pounds.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Job related experience is desired, strong customer service skills.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

- Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment found in a commercial kitchen; quantity cooking and recordkeeping.

-Knowledge is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; quantity food preparation and handling; and sanitation practices.

  • Ability to learn church related systems to effectively support the ministry.

  • Possess the ability to communicate personally and publicly. Able to communicate through written and verbal directions.
  • Self-starter; willing to do what is necessary.
  • Good with people. Customer Service is a priority. Able to resolve conflicts reasonably.
  • Must desire to be a team player, understanding that we are a multi-faceted church with several very important ministries.
  • Must give testimony and evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sense the call of God to a ministry of service.
  • Demonstrate a consistent Christian lifestyle as stated in the Indian Rocks Employee Handbook.
  • Must be an active member of Indian Rocks as defined below:

-Regular attendance/involvement in an Indian Rocks Life Group

-Committed to systematic stewardship and faithful in tithing.

Other Responsibilities

Responsible to perform the other duties as assigned and approved by supervising personnel to include, but not limited to: Church Pastor, Church Administrator, Hospitality Director, Human Resources Manager or Personnel Committee.
