Job Overview:

The Project Controls Cost Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the cost aspects of construction projects in the energy industry. This role will involve a combination of financial analysis, budget management, and project forecasting to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, providing accurate cost forecasts and financial reports to project stakeholders.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze project expenditures, trends, and variances to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Estimation and Budgeting: Collaborate with project teams to prepare cost estimates for project proposals, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals and industry standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential financial risks and opportunities within projects, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular financial and cost performance reports, presenting key findings and insights to project managers and senior management.
  • Change Management: Assess and track project changes, evaluating their impact on project costs and timelines, and providing guidance on change orders and their financial implications.
  • Communication: Liaise with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients, to ensure clear communication and alignment regarding project cost-related matters.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to relevant financial and industry standards, guidelines, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or a similar role within the industrial construction or energy industry.
  • Proficiency in cost management software and tools (e.g., Ecosys, Viewpoint, Oracle Primavera, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and platforms, including MS Office suite and project management software.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data and reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, cost control methodologies, and project management principles.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certification in Risk Management (CRM) is preferred.
  • Relocation to an area within commutable distance of the project site is required for the duration of the project.
