This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical systems and components for the USV, including engines, propulsion systems, ventilation systems, and auxiliary machinery. The specialist works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration and optimization of mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain mechanical systems and components for the USV, such as engines, propulsion systems, ventilation systems, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure the integration and optimization of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and perform calculations to support design decisions.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed mechanical designs and specifications.
  • Conduct performance analyses and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of marine mechanical systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of marine engineering practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years supporting or working on unmanned crafts or autonomy programs.
  • Experience with US Navy or government programs is desired.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to marine mechanical systems.

Skills:

  • Expertise in designing and developing mechanical systems for marine applications.
  • Ability to perform detailed mechanical calculations and feasibility studies.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating mechanical designs and specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to recommend effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies in marine engineering.
