Position: Development Coordinator

Department: Advancement

Supervisor: Director of Development

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Full-Time

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday; Typical Business Hours. Occasional evening or weekend work.

MISSION STATEMENT:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Development Coordinator functions as a part of the Development Department. The primary function of the Development Coordinator is to support the activities of the department, prepare donor acknowledgments, complete data entry, and manage the in-kind donation program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be at least 21 years old
  2. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or similar field preferred, but not required.
  3. At least one year experience and proven success in communications, marketing, and/or public relations
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other electronic platforms
  5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including editing;
  7. Must have excellent command of the English language
  8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  9. Able to effectively work independently, prioritize, multi-task and shift tasks
  10. Able to work in shared workspace with distractions
  11. Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
  12. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is preferred, but not required
  13. Be able to demonstrate the mission of YWCA Kalamazoo and adhere to it

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides administrative support to the Vice President of Development.
  2. Coordinates donor meetings and follow up between Vice President of Development and Director of Development.
  3. Support Vice President of Development and Director of Development in preparing donor packages, call plans, prospecting and updating the donor database (Raiser’s Edge) to track all donor communication.
  4. Support Event Manager in the execution of department-led events including, but not limited to Full Circle, Men’s Breakfast, and Women of Achievement
  5. Support Foundation Manager with In-Kind Donation efforts including data entry, gift acknowledgment, donation volunteer supervision, donation sorting, donor communication, and Holiday Giving.
  6. Support Federal Grants Manager with Raiser’s Edge data maintenance including but not limited to maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records by utilizing public records, including white pages and regular review of obituaries and supporting special projects.
  7. Coordinate Annual Fund solicitations (Spring and Fall).
  8. Complete all gift entries and preparation of donor acknowledgments.
  9. Be able to work pre-approved and scheduled evenings and weekends as required by events or other organizational needs.
  10. Safeguard confidential information gained as a result of this position.
  11. As a YWCA Kalamazoo employee, project a positive image of the organization and its programs to the community.
  12. Able to demonstrate the mission of YWCA and adhere to it.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned in support of YWCA Development Department and all fundraising activities.
