ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Sort, classify, and verify all documents are processed per established guidelines
• Administer records management processes per file structure, naming conventions according to established guidelines
• Perform quality assurance checks on documents imaged into the EHR
• Transfer healthcare information in paper format to electronic format
• Process documents received by electronic fax in accordance with procedure guidelines
• Scan new patient records in accordance to the guidelines
• Preload new and returning patient’s records; analyze and extract specific information from the records to be put into structured fields within the electronic health record
• Work in conjunction with the Provider’s clinical team to ensure the patient’s electronic health record is in a current status
• Call patients to obtain healthcare information
• Provide training in the records management process
• Maintain and update the records management workflow guide
• Other responsibilities as directed by manager or coordinator

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Health Information experience; Associates Degree in Health Information Management preferred
• RHIT Credential-Preferred
• Experience with EMR/eClinical Works
• Understanding of HIPAA/Patient confidentiality
• Medical terminology- Preferred
• Ability to type with great accuracy

• Detail oriented
• Analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent professional judgment and decision making ability
• Strong computer skills
• Compassion and empathy
