Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSMS Staffing Inc is Hiring Immediately for a skilled Production Supervisors in Maine Job Title: Production SupervisorJob Location: Westbrook, MEJob Type: Contract (possible extension or convert to hire)Pay: Starts at $36.50 an hourShift Structure: 1st Shift, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday 2nd Shift, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday 40 hours per weekThe role of the Production Supervisor:
  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external production needs such as the planning production build plan.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
  • Approves work and gives area clearances. Creates SOPs, batch records etc.
  • Interprets SOPs, specifications, templates, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Plans flow of materials through the department and develops physical layout of processes .
  • Interfaces with others in the departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Assists in developing capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
About the Production Supervisor:The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ergonomics, and capacity planning.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address issues promptly.
  • Willingness to work on a 2nd shift as needed to meet production demands
