We are looking for a new ideal team player as a 2nd Shift Quality Control Technician in our Quality department The 2nd Shift Quality Control Technician position is responsible for maintaining quality assurance processes, testing of products, and recording and analyzing results gathered during product development and production of Cosmos products. This position should be assertive in test conclusions and reporting of test data. They must be able to analyze data, troubleshoot, and make clear decisions regarding the pass or HOLD of products and ingredients. This position will work on routine and non-routine laboratory projects as directed by Quality Laboratory Management.

  • Perform testing using a variety of analytical techniques.? Including, but not limited to pH, specific gravity, taste, viscosity, odor, appearance, etc.
  • Perform all laboratory tasks and laboratory activities such as testing, documentation, writing specifications, and verifying processes.
  • Microbial testing on raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and environmental swabbing.
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-functional colleagues to ensure testing and releases of ingredients and products are completed on time.
  • Follow SOPs, test methods, and approved written procedures in the laboratory. Be able to write new procedures as needed.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of 21 CFR part 507 to ensure FDA compliance.
  • Review, update, and train on lab procedures and documentation.
  • Work on non-routine projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • Handle product “HOLD” investigations. Compile data and participate with various departments throughout the investigation process. Escalate non-conformances and Specification results in a timely manner and in accordance to HOLD procedures.
  • Adhere to testing and project deadlines as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for monitoring and documenting critical control points (CCP). Responsible for enforcing GMPs, Product Safety, Lab Safety, SQF, ISO Standards, and product specifications.
  • Responsible for monitoring all product safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for performing sanitation verification and Environmental Testing on equipment, mixing/holding tanks, and other areas required.
  • Check to fill weight and conduct fill weight studies for new formulas/components.
  • Conduct stability and shelf-life studies.
  • Conducts and documents instrument calibration. Troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supply inventories. Maintain ordering schedule of necessary resources and replenish as needed.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings and specified training for lab personnel.
  • Follow and support current Good Manufacturing Practices and current Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Generate COAs for finished products for customers.
  • Maintain COAs and SDS for incoming raw materials.
  • Troubleshoot formula adjustments as needed to meet production needs.
  • Maintain & organize all retained samples from production jobs.

Requirements:

You will hold a BA or BS in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred. One plus years of experience working in a cGMP laboratory.
