Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Description: Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery, is looking for a talented Laboratory Animal Research (LAR) professional to support our vivarium operations.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include contributing to daily vivarium activities and operations. You will be expected to –

  • Perform daily tasks related to animal care, ensuring humane treatment of animals, including husbandry, health monitoring, and administering medications
  • Perform experimental procedures, collect samples and experimental data, and accurately maintain records
  • Collaborate with researchers and staff to design and execute experiments, prepare animal models, and analyze data
  • Assist in developing and implementing SOPs for animal care, experimental protocols, and safety guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory and animal housing areas, following biosafety and animal welfare protocols
  • Participate in training programs to stay current with advancements in animal research and welfare standards

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Animal Science or a related discipline preferred
  • 2+ years of vivarium experience with responsibility for animal husbandry is required
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.

Skills Requirements:

  • Experience in rodent handling and proficiency with in vivo procedures, injections, blood draws, data collection, and analysis are required
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to apply relevant scientific concepts and terminology
  • Affinity for animals and respect for their welfare is essential
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic team environment
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with general computer literacy

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity required for lab work
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

The estimated base salary range for this role is $50,000 to $70,000. Individual compensation decisions will be based on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. We offer a wide range of benefits including a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holidays, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
