Role: Network Engineer

Reports to: Director, IT

FLSA: Exempt

Location: Poway, CA


Why this role is important at Genesee Scientific?

Our team is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a talented and versatile Network Engineer. In addition to excelling in network engineering tasks, this role will encompass helpdesk support responsibilities, with a focus on Azure cloud expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust grasp of network infrastructure, along with outstanding troubleshooting skills. Success in this role relies on effectively managing network operations and providing outstanding support to end users.


What will you do:

Network Infrastructure Management:

  • Primary contact for Helpdesk Support
  • Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure optimal network operation.
  • Implement network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to plan and execute network upgrades and expansions as needed.

Azure Cloud Skills:

  • Deploy and manage virtual machines, storage, and networking resources in Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  • Configure and monitor Azure services, such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery.
  • Implement security measures and compliance standards in Azure environments, including Azure security and Azure Policy.
  • Collaborate with developers and other teams to leverage Azure cloud services for application development and deployment.
Requirements:

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering and helpdesk support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs
  • Experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues on Windows and/or masOS platforms.
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Azure Resource Manager, Azure Virtual Network, and Azure Active Directory.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft certifications are preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with FileMaker and QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Works efficiently within deadlines.
