Position Summary:

The Multiskilled Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of equipment and systems in a chemical processing plant. This role requires a broad range of mechanical skills, including experience with pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and other plant machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical processing operations and a commitment to ensuring plant safety and efficiency.


Shift: Rotating Shift - 2 weeks 3rd shift, 1 week 1st shift, 1 week off.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of plant equipment, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, and mixers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical failures on machinery and equipment.
  • Replace or repair defective parts and ensure that all repairs are completed to industry standards.
  • System Installation and Optimization:
  • Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and systems within the plant.
  • Optimize the performance of existing equipment through adjustments, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Conduct equipment performance tests and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems:
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, and hoses.
  • Diagnose issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements to ensure proper functioning of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery meet safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in safety training and follow best practices for chemical handling and emergency response.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with plant operations, maintenance teams, and other departments to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance activities, equipment status, and any issues that arise.
  • Provide training and support to other team members as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare and submit reports on equipment status, maintenance schedules, and any significant issues encountered.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Respond to equipment failures and emergencies promptly to minimize impact on plant operations.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and procedures as required.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification in mechanical maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a mechanic in a chemical processing or similar industrial environment.
  • Experience with a wide range of mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with chemical processing operations and safety procedures.
  • Skills:
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Certifications:
  • Relevant technical certifications or licenses are a plus.


Additional Information:

  • Position may require occasional overtime, weekend, or evening work based on plant needs.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
