We are looking for a responsible and energetic Teacher Assistant to join the team at our growing school. As a teacher assistant, you will work with students and perform additional tasks to support teachers in providing a comprehensive educational program. Our ideal candidate is industrious, cooperative and knowledgeable about educational best practices and child development.
Teacher Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver whole-class instruction
- Work with students individually or in small groups for extension or remediation
- Help prepare materials for lessons
- Ensure that students have all materials necessary for class activities
- Provide extra help as needed to students
- Maintain detailed records of students’ progress on instructional or behavioral goals
- Grade assignments and record results
- Coordinate with classroom teachers to determine daily tasks
- Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, and field trips
- Enforce school rules and policies
- Perform all other duties as assigned
HOURS: Full-Time
SALARY: $26,000. annually (10 months)
All teacher assistants at DCA are on one-year contracts. Contract renewal is contingent upon successful performance, completion of duties and expectations, as well as funding.
Teacher’s Assistant Qualifications
- At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting is required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred
- Certification in child first aid and CPR preferred
- Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a team
- Effective at multitasking; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlines
