About Job

As the HR Director, you will report to the CEO and lead the HR function for the corporation. The HR Director will oversee the recruiting, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding of new staff; consult with top executives on strategic planning; serve as a link between the organization's management and its employees; be responsible for the management of personnel data; ensure that company remains in compliance with all employment laws and regulations; and be responsible for payroll processing.

The position will be based in Randolph, NJ. It is expected to involve about 20% travel, most of which will be between the corporations headquarters in Randolph, NJ and its facility in Newburyport, MA.

Qualifications & Credentials

  • At least 5 years experience as the HR Director of a mid-market company.
  • A Bachelors degree is required
  • The Company is a growing, mid-market company with a very bright future; it needs a proactive, energetic, deeply engaged, hands-on HR Director. The candidate must have a positive, can-do approach to problem-solving and decision-making, and be willing and able to lead cross-functional teams/initiatives to pounce on high-priority problems and opportunities as they arise.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and team-building skills, cross-functional collaboration skills, performance management and people development skills, and project management skills.
  • The candidate must have the executive presence, sophistication, business acumen, and managerial courage required of a senior manager.
  • A masters degree and/or HR certifications (such as from SHRM) are a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other foreign languages is a plus.
  • Experience setting up and/or managing HR functions in countries outside the US is a big plus.
  • Experience in a company that designs and manufactures highly-engineered products for worldwide sales is a plus.

The responsibilities of the HR Director

  • Ensure that the company has an efficient, effective and scalable HR management function at all sites. Deploy the right systems, processes, practices, and infrastructure to meet present and future business needs in HR management.
  • Be the point person when the company hires new employees, in collaboration with the hiring managers. This includes the creation of job descriptions/specifications followed by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding.
  • Ensure that all employee data is properly collected and maintained. Maintain a well-documented system of HR policies, procedures and controls in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure that the company remains in compliance with all applicable HR/employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee and administer the companys performance management process, which includes objectives setting, performance appraisals, and merit-based compensation decisions by the managers in the company.
  • Oversee and administer the companys people development system, which includes things like assisting with individual development plans and individual performance improvement plans.
  • Help to plan and execute team-building exercises of various kinds in collaboration with the mangers in the company.
  • Play a leadership role in planning the HR budget each year, and be accountable for operating within budget.
