Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRotational Molding Technician Shift: Days (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) Monday - Friday(overtime is possible)Pay rate: $20.00/hour General Summary:Rotational Molding involves a heated mold which is filled with resin/plastic material. It is then slowly rotated causing the softened material to disperse and stick to the walls of the mold forming a hollow part. The mold goes through a cooling process and continues to rotate to avoid deformation. The mold is then taken apart and the hollow part is taken out by the technician.Specific Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for daily operation of rotational molding equipment. Duties include start-up and shut-down, loading/unloading, mold changes and troubleshooting
  • Responsible for overall equipment and mold maintenance. Technician performs standard preventative maintenance activities and recommends/oversees more significant machine and mold repair
  • Responsible for trimming and pre-assembly of molded products
  • Insures that products are produced to specification and insures overall molded product quality
  • Documents all molding, trim/pre-assembly, preventative maintenance and safety procedures and insures compliance
  • Responsible for determining molded component needs and maintaining appropriate inventory levels
  • Operates forklift or other material movement equipment to move parts and molds to or from designated work areas
  • Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives by contributing improvement ideas and assisting with implementation within the manufacturing environment
  • Insures that safe operating practices are established and followed as it relates to the rotational molding process. Notifies supervisor of any potentially unsafe conditions
  • Makes optimum use of time and keeps work area clean and neat
  • Abides by all the policies, procedures, guidelines of the company, including conformance to good common sense safety practices and regulations
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • Three years of rotational molding experience preferred but not required, including mold change and preventative maintenance activities
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting equipment, processes, and mechanically inclined
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret bills of material and product manuals
Physical Requirements and PPE:
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, stoop and reach
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Use of safety glasses required
  • Steel toe boots required
