Position Summary: The Tax Prep Assistant will support the team of tax professionals by organizing documents, assisting with client communications, and performing preliminary data entry tasks related to tax preparation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive client information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and organizing client tax documents, including W-2s, 1099s, and other relevant financial records.
  • Input basic tax-related data into tax preparation software under the supervision of senior tax preparers.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments with clients.
  • Communicate with clients via phone, email, and in-person to answer basic questions and provide status updates on their tax returns.
  • Ensure all client information is accurately entered and properly stored in the firm's database.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax forms and paperwork as directed by senior staff.
  • Manage filing systems and maintain organized records for easy retrieval.
  • Handle any additional administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting or related fields is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a tax office or administrative role is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with tax preparation software is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

  • Seasonal role with the potential for extended hours during peak tax season (January-April).
  • Office-based position with the possibility of occasional remote work.
