The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor’s purpose is to supervise and lead the shipping and receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate sorting, storage, picking, shipping and delivery of products and materials related to Stuppy customer orders. The position will support the mission and values of Stuppy.

 

Essential Functions

  • Supervise shipping and receiving operations to include daily employee supervision and direction.
  • Managing work through effective decision making, planning, organization, delegating and follow-up.
  • Responsible for the supervision, hiring, coaching, development and accountability of your team.
  • Responsible for the quality, safety, accuracy and timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Responsible for planning, management, scheduling, and the effective deployment of resources.
  • Responsible for oversight of the selection and packaging of merchandise for shipping and delivery to customers.
  • Building trust, respect and partnerships with all other departments within the organization.
  • Ensure all areas of shipping and receiving are neat and organized following 5S / LEAN methodologies.
  • Ensure material handling and packaging requirements always meet or exceed company standards.
  • Safely operates and uses forklifts and other power devices in the execution of the shipping clerk duties and must maintain the necessary qualifications and certifications accordingly.
  • Ensures the successful onboarding and training process of new employees.
  • Evaluates and determines the needs of ongoing training of existing employees.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and OSHA compliance within shipping & receiving.
  • Direct and assist team in the loading and unloading of greenhouse parts on and off trucks.
  • Ensures proper handling and accurate completion of shipping and receiving paperwork.
  • Execute receiving, storage, picking and inspection quality processes to ensure 100% accuracy of orders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ Years of hands-on experience working in a manufacturing, production, shipping and/or receiving environment, with experience leading team members preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams in a shipping and/or receiving environment.
  • Practiced ability to lead and supervise team members to ensure schedules are met, quality preserved, and safe practices are properly executed.
  • Decision making skills and the experience to render independent decisions with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet shipping schedule deadlines while managing changing priorities.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift operators certification and operate a forklift is a must.
  • Applicable experience with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform continuous physical effort (up to eight (8) hours) including frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
  • Ability to execute numerous processes with frequent interruptions under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong self-accountability and capability to remain focused always ensuring efficient execution.
  • Identify and Lead process improvement opportunities.

Standard office and/or manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is constantly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms with medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs.   They may be frequently exposed to loud noises and bright light. Vision perception is normal for administrative duties.


Physical environment could cause exposure to seasonal heat and cold, as well as dust.
