POSITION DESCRIPTION 


Main focus of the DPIC will be to educate crews and oversee divers and tenders for Geoduck dive harvesting.  Organizing and coordinating all of the crews and activities that occur on the area farms.  Attendance on the dive boat will be required and may at times be required for beach harvest. 




AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 


Safety of all crew is of upmost priority.  Educate crews on rules, policies, safety procedures and ECOP.  Turn in daily dive logs to the Safety Manager. Operate the dive boat to and from the harvest site. Oversee all anchoring and daily maintenance on harvest pump and air compressor.  Farm and harvesting crop: Ensure that product is handled carefully and in good condition when harvested and transported.  Must keep harvest records and complete all plant computer logging and fish tickets daily.   Coordinating crews and equipment to maximize company efficiency.  Participating in inner company planning meeting and attend industry seminars, conferences and trainings.  Responsible for equipment maintenance and repair, of all dive boat systems. It is required that all DPIC’s document any repairs and maintenance done to their boats and turn them in daily. All dive persons in charge at Taylor Shellfish will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing. 




REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 


  • DPIC Tender course completion required 
  • Must have clean driving record 
  • Travel to several work locations required at times 
  • Team and Individual leadership skills 
  • Organization and planning skills  


  • Ability to work independently, at times with little direction 
  • Strong and sound decision making skills  
  • Verbal and written skills 
  • Well organized and detail oriented 
  • Must maintain positive company morale  


  • Participates in company events, as needed 
  • Must work tides as scheduled by manager 
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance  
  • May be required to work at other work sites/locations as needed. 
  • May be required to do other tasks as needed. 


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 


  • Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground  
  • Must be comfortable working on dive boat for most of the shift. 
  • The employee may be  required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat  
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus 
  • Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers 
  • Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation 
  • Must be able to drive to multiple locations 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 


  • Raingear, boots and gloves will be required for some weather conditions

Will be required to work 40 to 50 hours a week.  DPIC will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Wage will be dependent upon qualifications.
