About Girlstart:

Founded in 1997, Girlstart's mission is to empower girls through STEM by implementing our innovative, nationally recognized informal STEM education programs. We envision a future where all those who identify as girls believe they have the potential to change their world through STEM. Girlstart's high-quality, evidence- and standards-based curriculum and STEM programming provides the encouragement, confidence, and hands-on experiences girls need during the critical 4th-5th grades to be prepared to engage in future STEM academic courses and careers. These programs include after school, week-long summer camps, community STEM programs, and an annual girls conference. Girlstart provides programs in multiple cities across Texas, Boston, MA, and the South Bay Area, CA.

Job Description:

Work closely with staff and the local community to promote and implement Girlstart in the North Texas area (specifically in Grand Prairie, Irving, Plano and Richardson school districts). Support the program team in planning, organizing and executing Girlstart After School,Summer Camp, and Community STEM events. Foster and maintain meaningful relationships with school administration, teachers, parents, STEM CREW, donors, and other community organizations to accomplish organizational and strategic plan goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize North Texas programming logistics and day-to-day implementation
  • Manage North Texas Program Assistant
  • Responsible for front line staff (called STEM CREW) hiring, training, management, and supervision
  • Maintain participant registration forms, parent communication (including confirmations, reminders, follow up emails/letters), attendance, survey results, photos, etc
  • Facilitate successful relationships between program partners, STEM CREW, and Girlstart
  • Oversee purchasing, organization and preparation of program materials in the area
  • Support Girlstart team with office operations (office organization, volunteer support, etc.)
  • Lead programs and serve as Girlstart representative at Regional community events (virtually and/or in-person) including but not limited to business luncheons, evening networking events, volunteer fairs
  • Support the engagement team's efforts to secure new and renewed gifts
  • Build the donor pipeline by initiating new contacts, and identifying new prospects
  • Participate in the planning, preparation, and execution of major giving cultivation and recognition events and efforts
  • Research and identify prospective donors: family funds/foundations, corporations, and individuals (assign and schedule ask accordingly)
  • Support Girlstart's strategic plan goals and other duties assigned as pertains to those goals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience in youth programming or informal STEM education
  • Minimum of two years of experience and proven success in planning and implementing quality programming for youth
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, train, and coach a team
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, friendly, flexible and outgoing
  • Effective organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team player and foster cooperative work
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and deliverables
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to the mission of Girlstart
  • Reliable, dependable, and timely
  • Knowledge of educational learning standards and experience creating youth serving curriculum preferred

Special Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation. This position needs to be comfortable driving to the office, observing or leading programs, attending events, etc.
  • ​​Experience with Google Suite, Zoom, and working with remote teams
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, when needed
  • Physical ability to lift at least 10lbs

Location: The North Texas Program Coordinator is based out of our Dallas, TX location (2351 W Northwest Hwy #3350, Dallas, TX 752207). This position will be required to be in person with some flexibility for remote work.
