Staff Accountant


Alliance Trust Company of Nevada is seeking to fill a position within the accounting department with a candidate possessing 2+ years of experience in brokerage accounting.  The candidate should have a background in bank or brokerage accounting and have a bachelor’s degree in an accounting discipline. This position will expose the candidate to a wide variety of brokerage and trust-related accounting.


The candidate, at the basic level, would be involved in the technical review and reconciliation of all accounting accounts.  The candidate will also assist with internal audits and regulatory examinations of the Trust Company. The candidate would work with the organization’s leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement.


The ideal candidate has an understanding of brokerage accounting and has worked in either corporate bank accounting in the back office (eg. accounting software processing or the wire room), or for an investment advisor (mirroring custodian accounts in the RIA’s accounting software, producing statements, and invoicing).


Qualifications:

  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with designing and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience with using excel on a grand level to do analysis and research.
  • Excellent excel skills.
  • Experience with new software implementation and data migration is a plus.
  • Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering policies and understanding of how the policy relates to contributions and withdrawals.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records for brokerage accounts, including asset adds, transaction posting, and account reconciliations within the Alliance accounting system.
  • Assist with preparing Alliance statements, tax worksheets, and 1099s.
  • Maintain and prepare client invoicing.
  • Maintain invoice receivables and follow up with clients regarding unpaid invoice receivables
  • Pay trust-related expenses out of the individual trust cash account.
  • Maintain ledger.
  • Track reoccurring ACH and wire transactions prior to sending.
