Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting an Accounting Assistant 3 for the Office of Operations and Financial Services for the School of Medicine. This position is responsible for supporting the UNR School of Medicine finance department in performing general accounting and financial management and reporting and database maintenance. This position requires expertise in asset management, troubleshooting, process improvement, and budget development.

The Accounting Assistant 3 is responsible for accounts payable, financial transactions for multiple departments, procurement card verifications, and serving as hosting point of contact, creating purchase orders, submitting invoices, preparing bank deposits, resolving purchasing issues and payment concerns, and providing accurate and complete documentation of all financial transactions. This position will use Workday and Sage accounting systems to assist in financial management. The Accounting Assistant 3 maintains the asset inventory duties, manages hosting processes and maintains accurate records and systems while utilizing DocuSign.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy, policy adherence, and overall UNR Med financial health.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR
  
• One (1) year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above, OR
  
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates proficient in using Microsoft Suites platform are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is variable, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $19.94/hr.)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity, and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
