Job Description
Job Title: Team Leader Client Support Associates (CSA)
Program: North A, Roseville Road, Grove, Stockton Blvd.
Reports To: CSA Supervisor or Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Revision Date: July 2024
Shift: Day, Swing, Grave (as assigned)
Summary: Working as part of a team, Team Leader CSAs will assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the shelter and the well-being of the clients. In addition to the responsibilities of a CSA, the Team Lead will be responsible for delegating tasks and assisting the CSA team on their assigned shift, as well as acting as a liaison between shelter management and shelter staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitor and facilitate the transition of guests/clients from the entry gate or intake areas to shelter/cabins; provide tour of dining, counseling, meeting and/or classroom areas.
- Help establish and enforce community guidelines and safety procedures to clients on-site.
- Foster a positive atmosphere of professionalism and support to the scheduled CSAs on shift
- Resolve and assist minor client and staff issues and appropriately elevate to shelter management when necessary.
- Delegate, assist, and rotate CSA staff to their assigned post and/or job task.
- Escalate any observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults, and elder/senior citizens to Management’s attention.
- Help clients access stored possessions (if any) and process their exit from the facility as required.
- Receive, process, distribute and store donation items received from the public.
- Disinfect and clean assigned shelter beds/cabins while facilitating the movement of client belongings from one location to another.
- Performs facility cleaning and maintenance, including campsite
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
- Responsible for writing clear and legible daily notes
- Ensure all tasks, incident reports, and daily notes are completed by the end of the shift and clearly communicate to the next shift when tasks are not completed.
- Review information regarding the site by reading daily notes and incident reports
- Ability to be challenged with leading and mentoring; and willing to get along and work effectively with others.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Perform other tasks as necessary as assigned or requested by the Site Supervisor and/or Program Director
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Equivalent of graduation from high school and six months of proven experience, preferably in social services or shelter environment is required. Sixty (60) units or more of college beyond high school is strongly preferred.
Language Skills: Independent and effective fluency in the English language. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of a computer or tablet and accompanying applications and software. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Working Conditions: Ability to work indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. This position requires you to work weekends and holidays.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: A current CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required. CPR, First Aid, and NARCAN certification preferred.

- Ability to conduct effective bag checks from clients.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Other Position Requirements:
- A background check is required.
- A TB test is required.
- If a past client of FSC or similar support organization, must have last needed support/housing services at least 12 months ago and cannot work in the same facility they received services.
- May be asked to travel locally to various sites with 25 miles for each shift.
- May be asked to work various day, evening, and overnight shifts.
