Position Summary

The Director of Licensure and Assessment and Education faculty member is a fulltime faculty position in the School of Education (SOE) at Concordia University's Mequon, WI campus. Faculty rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. This position reports to the Assistant Dean.

Concordia University invites applicants for the full-time staff position of Director of Assessment and Licensure for the School of Education located on the Mequon Campus, beginning as early as July 1, 2024. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of the SOE.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Director Responsibilities (approximately 50%)

  • Addresses the assessment and licensure needs of all SOE stakeholders with excellence and efficiency
  • Communicates regularly with Assistant Dean to ensure s/he is fully apprised of new statutory expectations and/or reporting standards required by outside accreditor or review agencies at the state or national level
  • Acts as the dedicated point of contact between the outside accreditor and review agencies and SOE team members
  • Serves as the primary author for federal Title reports and coordinates ongoing review and assessment reports required at the state, national, and university levels, working cooperatively with department chairs and program directors in the School of Education
  • Maintains and verifies annual program completer data, which is used for internal and external reporting
  • Reviews and prepares program completion verification forms and state-specific licensure and certification endorsement forms for review and signature of the campus certifying officer
  • Collaborates with department chairs and program directors to maintain key university information, policies, and documents related to current and accurate information regarding licensure requirements including, but not limited to, website, catalog, advising sheets, etc.
  • Manages graduate follow-up survey and assessment tools and provides that data to School and departmental leadership for inclusion in annual assessment reports at the state or national level
  • Evaluates transfer credits for incoming, existing, and transfer students
  • Adjudicates first-level student appeals regarding transfer evaluations before they are forwarded to the Assistant Dean
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean, based on the qualifications of the candidate

Faculty Responsibilities (approximately 50%)

  • Teaching in the School of Education in areas of expertise, advising dissertations, overseeing the management of compliance documentation, and managing clinical programs for initial licensure programs. Teaching may include in-person, online, or virtual classes as assigned.
  • Maintaining an active program of peer-reviewed research and scholarship, in accordance with expectations outlined in the CUWAA Faculty Handbook;
  • Serving on school and university committees; mentoring and advising students, and assisting program and school faculty with curriculum development and modification as well as academic assessment.

  • Demonstrates effective leadership, organizational skills, and is a self-starter
  • Exhibits a willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations
  • Familiar with the university campus life
  • Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to present a Christian and professional manner
  • Candidates should possess strong written and oral communications skills
  • Able to travel occasionally on behalf of the University
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a closely related field; applicants who are ABD but have substantial education experience will be considered;
  • Previous successful experience in education and demonstrated familiarly with state licensing requirements and expectations;
  • All CUWAA ranked faculty are members of Christian congregations; members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) are given preference in hiring.

This is a full-time, exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Concordia University benefit options include, but are not limited to the following:
