As a Mortgage Department Generalist, you will provide information to members regarding mortgage loan products, process mortgage loan applications in person, online, and by mail. Prepare mortgage loan applications and closing documents. Work toward overall credit union goal of providing superior service to members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Process member loan applications in person, online and by mail. Responsible for obtaining complete information on all loan applications received, i.e., current salary, address, phone number, credit reference information, etc.
  2. Prepare disclosures, mortgage forms, and closing documents. Order appraisals, title work, flood certifications, and home-owners insurance as necessary. Complete appraisal work sheets. Review mortgage/HELOC files to ensure regulatory compliance.
  3. Assist members with information regarding credit union mortgage loan services in person and by phone.
  4. Master mortgage software program for loan set-up, processing, closing, posting, and imaging.
  5. Be knowledgeable of all laws and regulations regarding consumer lending, particularly Reg B, Reg Z, RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act), TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Documentation), HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act), USA Patriot Act, and HOEPA (Home Ownership & Equity Protection Act).
  6. Assist Mortgage Loan Manager in preparing and maintaining all required records for the mortgage loan function, monthly reports, and mortgage loan adjustments.
  7. Maintain adequate amount of supplies for the department. Prepare order forms for approval.
  8. Process mortgage loan payments and payoffs. Provide payoff information on mortgage loans.
  9. Must meet qualifications to be approved for the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
  10. Maintain familiarity with other credit union products and services and use all opportunities to cross-sell.
  11. Must communicate with credit union staff, members, closing agents, and appraisers to service members and process loans efficiently.
  12. Performs other duties as requested.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education

Minimum high school diploma. Business school or other business training is desired.


Experience

Prefer one year of office experience. Proficient computer skills, along with good typing skills, are required to navigate various mortgage software systems. Prior real estate loan processing experience is desired.


Physical, mental and visual requirements

The responsibilities of this position require sitting for long periods of time but, must also have the ability to move freely from one area of the building to another. Excellent visual, audio, and manual dexterity skills are needed, as the work ranges from extensive use of the telephone, personal computer, printer, and calculator. This position requires the ability to function in an environment of occasional high stress.


PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have professional appearance, pleasant personality, and good communication skills. Must be very accurate and detail oriented. Strong initiative is needed. Must be able to function as a team player and cooperate with co-workers, members, and business associates.
